Paramount Screening Room
The basis for my design of this space was to showcase the history of successful film production by this company and to celebrate the technology of the Projector. The elevator lobby presents large graphic images, floor to ceiling in scale, illustrating the many memorable film moments headed by Paramount. Early schemes had images of reknown directors and thier leading artists in collaboration on a scene. Initially I called for an exploded axometric graphic of a 1936 projector along the length of the hallway leading to the bar. Under the exploded graphic, I proposed using plasma screen monitors within a millwork mock-up of a film reel. The slender profiles of the monitor spec and a good millworker made this design work. For each monitor, images moving and still can give the hall its own dynamic while showcasing the latest film screened event. I had the pleasure of working with a great team at this GKV lead project with the talent of Rianna Piza and firm Principle of Richard Kronick in strong support of my design decisions.
